Hello. I'm Aisha. I have been on xat since February 2009, known by many. I have helped people, I have hurt people. I like to be seen as 'controversial' as I like my voice to be heard. Here - is my voice.
It has been almost 5 months since my last post (March 2016), and thought I would make my newest post the most detailed, and harshest, yet. If you will not like what I am going to say about xat and the community, I advice that you DO NOT READ THIS as I will state facts, not fiction. The community needs a reality check, as I have, and life hurts sometimes, so get over it. Hence that is now out the way, let's begin...
Xat Chats
Especially during the 2010 - 2012 era, xat used to be extremely popular. With there being over 20 chats with 20+ people on the weekends, xat5 being overcrowded with 40-50 people when Admins were online, and people being excited to relax, many chat boxes were crowded and active.
We are in 2016. On the most busy periods, there are only 2 chats with over 50+ people, one of them being Trade. There are still many chats with a population of around 15 - 20 consistent people, but those are loyal fanbases who are linked with other social media and RPG gaming. They use xat as another reliable source, but when they find something better, how many popular chats are there going to be now?
Many of us are aware that official chats get auto-promoted when there are no chats on promotion. Nowadays, Social gets around 20 - 25 people when put on auto promotion all day, and it already gets around 10 - 15 people on a basic day. There are hardly any chats on promotion nowadays, when even as recent as 2 years ago many people were seeking their chats to become promoted, as there was a huge competition and pride to get their chat put up across the xat network.
There is no doubt with the introduction to Twitch, Snapchat, Instagram, and a huge increase of YouTubers and Gamers, many people have decided to join these websites and leave chatting through a virtual chat box. Lets face it - in what ways are xat more interesting than gaming websites? Both require interaction and bonding, but gaming enables you to enter a completely different word - and a more life changing experience.
In brief, xat chats are dying, less people are interested in them, and the only reason some of these chats are still popular are because of the loyal fanbase who stay there. A few people may have recently got rank promoted and want to 'show off' that rank and stay 'loyal', but as soon as they are either demoted, or university, etc. comes, they will leave. There is no such thing as loyalty, no matter how much you try.
Powers and Trade
Lets face it, 'powers' are the whole main reason why xat outshines all the other typical chatrooms out there. Each week, there is a new 'power' which gets released with a whole original feature and style, bringing desire across the whole of the site. This is the main source of revenue, and why users pay alot of $$ in order to purchase these - powers. They are just virtual smileys, but they bring alot to the economic status of xat, and without these, the website would have died, long ago.
As I am typing this, there are now over 400 powers on xat. Yes, 400. Each power releases every week, meaning this has occurred over 400 weeks. This is around 7 years and 6 months. The Admins are now forced to listen to the decreasing community each day due to them running out of originality. Who can blame them? But why isn't anybody getting bored of these? Because it makes profit.
That is the point. Powers do not make profit anymore, and with users being put off new 'pointless' powers getting released, what use do they have? Don't get me wrong, Admins have been releasing some great new powers lately, such as Nameflag, Namegrad, etc. They implemented a great new smiley maker, known as Juniour, and people are still spending $$. So, what's the problem?
The Xat Community
Xat, like all chat boxes, are a great way to interact with people all across the world. Many people have become friends there, have remained friends, and have brought their circle to other social media sites when moving on from xat. There have been rare cases of users meeting up in real and becoming closer friends, something alot of people find controversial, and put off.
However, in 2016, and unfortunately making friends is difficult to do. The majority of
